The downloop is an essential skill for any kite foiler to master, giving you better control and even power delivery through out your carves.
But when we talk about looping the kite, many people think of powerful kiteloops on twintips but actually the way in which we loop the kite on a foil, can be very tame and its not about huge surges of power but rather consistent, even power through the loop, and hence throughout the carve.
Hopefully by now you are consistently getting around your carving turns, flying the kite over the top of the wind window. So in this video we’ll build on the body positions you’ve already become used too, looking at the key differences, but ultimately we are going to focus on the timing for this new way of flying the kite.
In this video we are going to focus on your the kite carving turn with a downloop in moderate winds, with a medium sized foil.
1. We’ll look at the key kite positions that will make this kite movement deliver us consistent and controllable power whether the wind is light or strong.
2. There are 3 essential bar positions that will make this all possible, and knowing when to use each will be what makes the difference between riding out of the carve on the foil or a less desirable outcome!
3. And obviously we show you the timings for syncing the carving of the board with the kite, along with how to get your body in the correct position keep foiling through out the carve.
And once again remember we are not worrying about any foot changes at this point. We cover this in detail in the Foiling Foot Changes video.
Building up the confidence to start downlooping and then the experience to do them consistently will be a big step forward in your overall kitefoiling journey and give you a big leap forwards in your over kite and foil skills.
